Factsheet: Data-Driven Decision-Making Capacity of State VR Agencies

Data can help Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) agencies understand what is working, guide program improvements, and make stronger decisions. But having data is only part of the equation. Agencies also need the tools and expertise to manage, visualize, and analyze that information.

The new factsheet, Data-Driven Decision-Making Capacity of State VR Agencies, summarizes findings from a survey of state and federal VR agency administrators. While agencies reported strong confidence and capacity in areas such as data management, the study found significant gaps in advanced statistical analysis. In fact, 71% of respondents lacked the internal statistical capacity to analyze data using any of the statistical programs included in the study.

The findings point to opportunities to strengthen VR agencies' capacity through technical assistance and training, education pathways that build data skills, partnerships with researchers and consultants, and greater collaboration across state agencies.

Read the factsheet to explore the findings and recommendations for building stronger data-driven decision-making capacity within the VR system.
